Kitsoft launches new NFT collection about Ukrainian mythology — Wired Motnka

Kitsoft created the Chthonic NFT project, which will introduce the mythology and ancient traditions of Ukraine to the international community. On July 23, the project took 2nd place in the hackathon. But how are they planning to develop the collections of the project? Well, read this article to find out!

Hackaton has been to trigger the development of Ukraine’s creative industry since it was a powerful struggle tool during the war. The topic was Ukraine in the past, present, and future.

Kitsoft immediately assembled a team to participate and presented the Chthonic project and the first NFT collection — Wired Motnka. In fact, the Chthonic project is about to include three NFT collections: motanka dolls, demons, and gods, and also a Metaverse where all of them are going to “live”.

Chthonic (from “chthonic deities” — in different religions the names of deities associated with the underworld) — this is a look into deep layers of the cultural heritage of Ukraine.

“The pre-Christian cultural legacy contains many rituals, myths, extensive demonology, and a powerful pantheon of gods. The youth of today deserve to have new ancient idols.

We are creating a chthonic metaverse for them — the world, where the ancient Ukrainian spirits and gods broke into the reality of cyberpunk. From now on, they have the possibility not just to enjoy all the technological benefits but also to influence them.

And we, as crypto-archaeologists, open digital layers and demonstrate collections of what we’ve found.” — says Maksym Kyrinnyi, team member.

The team presented the idea of the first collection of the project — Wired Motnka. This is a generative NFT collection of motanka dolls of Ukraine’s national amulet that combines the past, present, and future.

“Ukrainian motanka doll is a powerful national symbol. Just imagine the energy that it represents. It’s like a cultural unconscious that woke up in 3024, the year of cyberpunk. It remembers its essence, but it needs the matter in order to exist in the new world. And it starts to reassemble from what is available around. For instance: wires instead of threads, antennas, jets … Even an eco-milk label came in handy.” — Maksym reveals the idea

Generativity means that the images of the collection will be generated randomly. Moreover, even the artists aren’t aware of what will be created. They just indicate input parameters for a combination, while a programmed artificial algorithm generates thousands of random images. It is possible due to the variability of motanka dolls.

Unique art combines myths and technologies. In addition, the collection will have a utility that will turn tokens into the elements of a big game. If the owner stakes (posts on the project website) a motanka doll and, let’s say, some kind of a demon, it can turn into a Voodoo doll that can destroy another token.

“Ukrainian traditional culture and mythology are very rich, but when we were baptized, we practically lost the heritage of the pagans. Our goal is to restore our amulets, our demonology from the past (and there’s a lot to share), and the apogee is our gods in the metaverse. It’s our duty to tell everyone about them.” — concludes Maksym

NFT collections of the Chthonic project will be sold on the OpenSpace marketplace.
