"It's like becoming an architect — but for digital public services,"
— this is how our colleague Iryna Zinovieva, Technical Writer, describes her experience in the Women in GovTech Challenge 2025 program.
The program, organized by GovStack, brought together over 50 participants from around the world, uniting women who work in the field of digital transformation of public services. Over six intensive weeks, the participants delved into the principles of building government services based on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), explored the architecture of GovStack Building Blocks, studied GDPR requirements, developed leadership skills, and collaborated in international teams.
The Women in GovTech program was six weeks of true digital drive, intensive brainstorming, and, frankly, plenty of challenges!
— shares Iryna.
A key task for participants was to create prototypes of new digital public services. Iryna worked in an international team mentored by Silvana Vidal, an expert in digital services and innovation from the Council of Ministers of Peru. For their final project, the team developed a service that enables student transfers between schools in Egypt. This is where Kitsoft's experience in creating educational services for Kyiv proved very helpful, as Iryna explains:
When we started analyzing the AS-IS model, I suggested using Kitsoft’s experience from last year when we developed similar services for schools in Kyiv. And that was a real 'aha moment'! This comparison clearly demonstrated how progressive Ukraine is in the digitalization of public services. I felt truly proud.
The work on the prototype required not only a deep dive into service design processes but also learning new technical skills. Iryna mastered Figma, and during the final stage of interface design received valuable support from her colleague, Kitsoft Product Designer Dmytro Yukhymenko.
"Thanks to Dmytro's advice, our prototype design turned out to be ‘awesome’ — that’s how our entire team feels!"
The final solution allowed the team to develop a TO-BE model that could significantly simplify bureaucratic procedures for parents in Egypt and improve citizen interaction with the country's education system.
It’s incredibly exciting to help improve public services in other countries, drawing from the achievements of your own.
Participation in the Women in GovTech Challenge 2025 has become not only a new professional milestone for Iryna but also an opportunity to join a global community of experts working on the future of digital public services.
It was an exciting, challenging, and incredibly valuable experience that enriched me with knowledge, new connections, and a deeper understanding of the global challenges of digital transformation.
The Kitsoft team congratulates Iryna on her achievement and continues to share Ukraine's GovTech expertise internationally. The company is an official participant of the GovStack initiative, contributing to the development of global standards for building digital public services and implementing advanced approaches in its own solutions.
