The Kitsoft team has modernized the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Monitoring Platform of Ukraine, administered by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. This platform provides open government data on how the country is evolving across key areas such as the economy, healthcare, education, environment, gender equality, and other development indicators.
The modernization was carried out with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, funded by the Government of Japan. Additional expert support was provided within the “Diia Support Project,” implemented by UNDP with funding from the Government of Sweden.
This update is part of the adaptation of the SDG monitoring system to new challenges related to war and the country’s recovery process.

About the SDG Monitoring Platform of Ukraine
The SDG Monitoring Platform is a national open-data system that tracks Ukraine’s progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It is administered by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
It consolidates official indicators used by the government and international partners to assess Ukraine’s progress in sustainable development.
Improved navigation, accessibility, and data usability
Kitsoft updated the platform to the latest version, improved its structure, and introduced new functionality for working with updated SDG indicators.
One of the key improvements is a new navigation system. Users can now view and compare both legacy and updated indicators directly on each SDG page. This makes it easier to analyze changes and track transitions between system versions.

Additionally, the Kitsoft team:
improved the platform’s UI/UX;
upgraded the system to the latest version;
enhanced information search functionality;
implemented a unified accessible version;
migrated historical data;
added new indicators in line with legislative updates;
updated content, page structure, and links according to State Statistics Service requirements;
improved data visualization across the platform.
During the modernization, all historical data from the previous system was preserved, allowing users to track long-term trends and compare indicators over time.
The platform is available in both Ukrainian and English, making the data accessible to both local users and international stakeholders.
A platform for Ukraine – and beyond
In 2024, Ukraine updated its SDG targets and indicators. The previous version of the platform no longer fully supported the new data structure, which made modernization necessary.
Some of the updated indicators reflect wartime realities, including reconstruction, demining, environmental impact of the war, and shelter infrastructure. The system was therefore adapted to support this expanded and updated dataset.
The platform now includes 309 national indicators used to monitor Ukraine’s progress toward the SDGs.
The updated system enables faster and more efficient access to official government data without the need to search across multiple sources. It is used by journalists, analysts, international organizations, researchers, and all stakeholders working with open data on Ukraine’s development.
The platform also has international relevance, as its data is used by other countries in their own SDG monitoring processes. This makes its accuracy and relevance important both nationally and globally.
“The SDG Platform involves large-scale government data, strict accuracy requirements, and international reporting standards. We didn’t just update the interface — we rethought how users interact with public statistics. Projects like this build deep expertise in data-driven solutions for the public sector,” – Olha Kononova, Project Manager at Kitsoft.
